We are committed to providing excellence in service to our Guests whilst also upholding our dedication to help preserve and protect our natural environment. Our Environmental Policy outlines how we aim to minimise our carbon footprint as much as possible. We currently:
- use a Geothermal Heating System to heat.
- use LED and energy saving light bulbs in over 90% of the House.
- monitor our energy usage monthly.
- returning cans and bottles according to the Ireland’s Deposit Return Scheme.
- recycle glass, cans, paper, cardboard and plastic.
- make use of local food suppliers wherever possible, reducing food miles.
- encourage guests to forget about their car whilst staying with us and enjoy the natural breath-taking beauty of Achill Island and surrounding countryside.
- re-use towels on guest request.
Our aim is to:
- Work in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Seek to conserve natural resources by ensuring the responsible use of energy, water and materials yet still provide the quality of service expected by our guests.
- Measure performance and set objectives that will be regularly revisited with the aim of continual improvement by reducing, re-using or recycling in areas such as: water consumption, waste materials produced and energy consumption.
- Gain support from our guests and ensure that they are made aware of our environmental policy.
- Source products that have minimal environmental impact – packaging, recyclable products, local sourcing of services and products and energy efficient electrical equipment.
- Work with our suppliers and contractors to ensure that they are made aware of our policy and that they have compatible policies for managing their impact on the environment.
- Regularly conduct reviews to ensure our operations remain compliant with this policy and to set or revise targets to ensure continual improvement for the future.
Some simple measures for Guests to help us with our continued efforts:
- Turn off lights or electrical items in your bedroom when not in use;
- Consider the usage of your towels during your stay;
- Take care with the removal of make-up before bed;
- Allow us to recycle any newspapers that may no longer be required;
- Avoid dripping taps
- Adhere to our No Smoking Policy in the House & Grounds.
- Keep used bottles and cans in a state that they can be returned.
